New Agreement Signals Closer Co-operation Between International Lead Association and the Chinese Lead Industry

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between the International Lead Association (ILA) and the Chinese Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNIA) aims to support and improve the health of workers, communities and the environment in China and the rest of the world.

The MOU  will mean closer links between ILA, the worldwide membership body that supports companies involved in the mining, smelting, refining and recycling of lead and CNIA, which represents China’s lead industry.

ILA has already developed a strong relationship with CNIA through joint initiatives with the ILA-funded International Lead Management Center on the development of a ground-breaking Benchmarking Assessment Tool for the environmentally sound management of used lead-acid batteries.

In addition the ILA-supported Advanced Lead Acid Battery Consortium is working with the Chinese industry in the development of industrial lead-acid batteries to improve the energy efficiency of lifting equipment, such as port cranes and elevators.
