Industry Organizations

Over the past twenty-one years PRBA has developed cooperative working relationships with transportation and environmental organizations ranging from local and national groups throughout North America to national and international industry related trade associations and government agencies in Europe and Asia.

Battery Council International
Battery Council International is the trade association for the lead-acid battery industry. BCI is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote the interests of the international lead-acid battery industry. With more than 250 members worldwide, BCI brings together representatives of many of the kinds of businesses that are involved in the lead-acid battery life cycle, including manufacturers and recyclers, marketers and retailers, suppliers of raw materials and equipment, and industry consultants.

Call2Recycle is the only free rechargeable battery and cellphone collection program in North America. Since 1996, Call2Recycle has diverted over 70 million pounds of rechargeable batteries from the solid waste stream and established a network of 30,000 public collection sites. Advancing green business practices and environmental sustainability, Call2Recycle is the most active voice promoting safe reclamation and recycling of rechargeable batteries and cellphones. In adherence to the strictest and safest recycling standards, Call2Recycle has received the Responsible Recycling (R2) certification for the management of the collection and the distribution to processors for the recycling of batteries and cellphones. Founded in 1994, Call2Recycle is operated by RBRC, a non-profit organization.

European Portable Battery Association
The European Portable Battery Association (EPBA) is the leading organisation representing the interests of primary and rechargeable portable battery manufacturers, those industries using portable batteries in their products and distributors of portable batteries active within the European Union, and beyond. Our members include major portable battery manufacturers, and original equipment manufacturers as well as the National Battery Associations founded by our member companies in the Member States of the European Union and beyond. EPBA evolved out of Europile, which has been operating out of Bern, Switzerland since the 1980’s, in 1993 and established in Brussels in 1997.

NEMA is the trade association of choice for the electrical manufacturing industry. Founded in 1926 and headquartered near Washington, D.C., its approximately 450 member companies manufacture products used in the generation, transmission and distribution, control, and end-use of electricity.

Association of European Automotive and Industrial Battery Manufacturers
EUROBAT acts as a unified voice in promoting the interests of the European automotive, industrial and special battery industries to the EU institutions, national governments, customers and the media. With 40 members from across the continent comprising more than 85% of the battery industry in Europe, EUROBAT works with stakeholders to help develop new battery solutions to issues of common concern in areas like e-mobility and renewable energy storage.

China Industrial Association of Power Sources
China Industrial Association of Power Sources (CIAPS) founded in 1989, is the biggest professional battery association in China. It has six branches, including alkaline battery and new type chemical power sources branch, lead acid storage battery branch, lithium battery branch, dry cell branch, physical power sources branch, accessory and equipment for battery branch. Now CIAPS has more than 310 members involved in the development, manufacture, sales, or marketing of batteries, power supplies etc. “Solidarity, Friendship, Competition and Development” are the spirit of CIAPS. Serving as the bridge between the government and the enterprises, CIAPS accomplished the projects issued by Chinese government, as well as promoted international exchange and cooperation in the battery field.
